Since 1994, Bay Capital Mortgage Corp. (Bay Cap) has built a strong reputation as a top-tier mortgage banker, serving the lending needs of real estate professionals, builders, and individual homebuyers throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.

We are a full-service mortgage banker with an experienced staff offering expertise in every area of mortgage lending—from purchase to refinance. Meet the Executive Team

Timothy J. Gough, CMB

Chief Executive Officer

Tim joined Bay Capital in 2017 as Chief Executive Officer. Tim is responsible for creating, planning, implementing and integrating the strategic direction of the company. He is charged with leading the growth of Bay Capital throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Prior to Bay Capital, Tim served as Sr. Vice President for 1st Mariner Mortgage, a division of 1st Mariner Bank. Tim’s work is built upon three decades of mortgage banking experience with nationally recognized companies. After earning a B.A. degree in Economics at the University of Maryland in 1983, Mr. Gough entered the financial services industry and moved to the Annapolis area where he currently resides with his wife, Lori, where they raised three children.

Daniel J. Spotts

President

Dan serves as President of the company. Starting in the mortgage business in 1986, Dan joined Bay Capital Mortgage Corp in 2011. Previously, Dan served as Vice President/Regional Production Manager with JP Morgan Chase and was responsible for mortgage lending in District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Dan is a graduate of the University of Maryland and DeMatha Catholic High School where he volunteers as the Varsity Golf Coach.

Nick Thomas

SVP/Director of Business Development

Nick Thomas is a veteran of the financial services industry, bringing nearly 30 years of experience. Nick has spent the last eight years as a National Sales Coach, working alongside hundreds of loan officers, sales leaders, and business owners to help them clarify their vision, grow their impact, and lead with purpose.

In his current role as Director of Business Development, Nick is focused on attracting top-tier talent, building strategic partnerships, and supporting loan originators with the tools, structure, and support they need to thrive in today’s market. He brings a proven track record in coaching, recruiting, and leadership development—leveraging real-world experience to deliver measurable growth and long-term success.

Nick earned his degree in Business from Belmont University and lives in Nashville with his wife Casey and son Austin. He’s passionate about faith, family, fitness, and helping others maximize their potential—living each day with intention and impact.

Alberto Gamez

VP/Corporate Sales Manager

Alberto holds the positions of Corporate Sales Manager and Director of the Hispanic Lending Division.

Beginning his career in 1991 as a loan officer, Alberto discovered a deep passion for assisting and educating originators on ways to grow their business and, more crucially, grow personally. With his vast expertise in the mortgage sector, he is well-equipped to support you in reaching your financial and personal growth objectives.
